About The Position

Under the direction of a Manager and as part of the interdisciplinary team, the Community Mental Health Nurse provides a complex range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a community mental health and addictions population. The incumbent provides program consultation and co-ordination, evaluation of clinical interventions, supervision, preceptor students in formal clinical practicum, and provides professional and public education regarding mental health and addiction issues and resources. The incumbent will provide nursing leadership and clinical expertise in the development and maintenance of community mental health and addiction treatment programs, and ensure nursing practice standards are maintained.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) or Nursing diploma or Bachelor of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing diploma.
  • Must graduate from an approved school of psychiatric nursing with recognized training in psych nursing.
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a current registration as a psychiatric nursing in sask (CRPNS).
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS).
  • Minimum of 2 years (post graduate) recent recognized Mental Health & Addiction experience.
  • Registered/eligible with College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of SK - CRPNS.
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
  • Workplace Assessment & Violence Education (WAVE).
