About The Position

As a member of Youth Mental Health & Addiction Services, the Community Mental Health Nurse is an integral member of the Child & Youth Community Recovery Team. This position supports youth in residential facilities such as EGADZ and works with psychiatrists and other mental health and addiction professionals to promote youth recovery and stabilization.

Requirements

2 years of direct clinical experience in a mental health and addictions setting
Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)
Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Workplace Assessment & Violence Education (WAVE)
Advanced Interpersonal skills
Advanced Communication skills
Advanced Organizational skills
Knowledge of the Youth Detox and Stabilization Act
Knowledge of MHAIS
Knowledge in applicable health promotion and health prevention initiatives
Knowledge in mental health/illness impacts related to children and adolescents
Ability to work independently
Knowledge of trauma informed practice
Knowledge of addictions screening and assessment tools and procedures
Initiative & judgment to plan implement/modify treatment programs for clients
Knowledge in nursing process
Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act and Family Services Act
Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Knowledge of MHA theory and impact of MHA/ substance use across the lifespan
Ability to be flexible and willing to change
Registered/eligible with College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of SK - CRPNS
Access to a reliable vehicle
Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
