About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, the Nurse Assistant contributes to patient-centered care by performing selected day-to-day patient care activities and maintaining an environment conducive to patient well-being. The role demonstrates unit- or area-designated competencies and interacts with patients while considering their developmental, age-specific, cultural, and spiritual preferences. This position is in the 8 W Medical Surgical department. The scheduled shift is 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with 72 scheduled hours bi-weekly.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Formal education or training in a medical careers program, enrollment in nursing school, or at least two years of experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, required before the start date and valid for at least 60 days beyond the start date.

Nice To Haves

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
One year of prior work experience in a patient care environment.
Previous geriatric psychiatric experience.

Responsibilities

Perform specific patient care interventions delegated by the RN to help identify and attain treatment goals.
Provide compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
Support patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, and exercising.
Ensure compliance with health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by following infection-control, hazardous-waste, and other policies and protocols.
Perform other related job duties as requested.
