Nurse Assistant ICU
About The Position
The Nurse Assistant provides care to patients according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy, under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatching services, and documenting services provided. The Nurse Assistant also serves as an observer for patients assessed as requiring constant observation, either in person or through remote video monitoring, to maximize patient safety. General receptionist and clerical duties support efficient nursing-unit operations, and care is documented in the electronic medical record. The position is based in the Intensive Care Unit 2NW at Grosse Pointe Hospital. It is a full-time, day-shift role scheduled for 36 hours per week, with hours of 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Days worked are variable, and the role includes every-other-weekend work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Current CNA certification preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge preferred.
