Nurse Assistant Progressive Care 3 North
About The Position
The Nurse Assistant works on the 3 North Progressive Care Unit, a step-down unit caring for a variety of patients requiring telemetry monitoring. The unit emphasizes compassionate, extraordinary care for patients and families and teamwork among staff. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Assistant provides patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. The role also includes transporting patients safely, providing observer services for patients requiring constant observation, documenting care in the electronic medical record, and performing receptionist and clerical duties that support efficient nursing-unit operations. This full-time position is based at Troy Hospital. The regular schedule is 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with 36 scheduled hours per week, and includes every third weekend. Corporate orientation is a consecutive Monday-through-Friday week, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and attendance for the entire week is required.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Current CNA certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Transport patients safely by wheelchair or stretcher.
- Provide dispatch services and document services appropriately.
- Serve as an observer for patients assessed to require constant observation, in person or through remote video monitoring, to maximize patient safety.
- Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient nursing-unit operations.
- Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
