Nurse Assistant ICU
About The Position
The Nurse Assistant provides patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatching transport services, and appropriately documenting services. Nurse Assistants may serve as observers for patients assessed as requiring constant observation, either in person or through remote video monitoring, to maximize patient safety. The position also performs receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient nursing-unit operations and documents care in the electronic medical record. This position is in the Intensive Care Unit 2NW at Grosse Pointe Hospital, a Magnet-designated facility recognized by U.S. News & World Report. The role is full-time, scheduled for 36 hours per week on the night shift from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with variable workdays and every-other-weekend coverage.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
- Current CNA certification.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Basic computer knowledge.
