About The Position
This is a Full Time position working as a Nurse Aide/Med Aide on a skilled nursing unit. The role involves providing basic nursing care, administering medications, and applying treatments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position also includes training, mentoring, coaching, and assisting with the orientation of new Staff Care Technicians. The schedule is a two-week block with every-other weekend rotation, and the shift is 2nd Shift (2:15-10:45 p.m.).
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Completed a State approved 76-hour nurse aide training course and competency evaluation program.
- Listed on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of the Nebraska Medication Aide Act, medication administration, and adverse medication reactions.
- Knowledge of regulations governing nursing assistants.
- Knowledge of practices and principles of providing basic nursing assistance.
- Knowledge of infection control practices.
- Knowledge of HIPPA regulations.
- Knowledge of abuse and neglect identification and prevention.
- Knowledge of safety principles.
- Knowledge of privacy and dignity principles.
- Skill in providing basic nursing assistance.
- Skill in administering medications.
- Skill in developing positive relationships with others.
- Ability to recognize adverse medication reactions and take appropriate action.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in exact detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to push/pull up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.
- Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck.
- Ability to frequently twist at the waist.
- Ability to walk or stand up to 90% of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing care for members.
- Administers medications and applies treatments within the scope of the Nebraska Medication Aide Act, State of Nebraska Nursing Assistant regulations, and agency regulations.
- Trains, mentors, coaches, and assists with the orientation of new Staff Care Technicians.
- Performs related work as assigned.
