About The Position

Under immediate supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse or designee, provides basic nursing care, administers medications, and applies treatments for members within the scope of the Nebraska Medication Aide Act, State of Nebraska Nursing Assistant regulations and agency regulations. Trains, mentors, coaches and assists with the orientation of new Staff Care Technicians and performs related work as assigned. This is a Full Time position working as a Nurse Aide/Med Aide on a skilled nursing unit. It involves a two-week block schedule with every-other weekend rotation. The position is on NOC Shift (10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completed a State approved 76-hour nurse aide training course and competency evaluation program.
  • Listed on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Knowledge of Nebraska Medication Aide Act, medication administration and adverse medication reactions.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing nursing assistants.
  • Knowledge of practices and principles of providing basic nursing assistance.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of abuse and neglect identification and prevention.
  • Knowledge of safety principles.
  • Knowledge of privacy and dignity principles.
  • Skill in providing basic nursing assistance.
  • Skill in administering medications.
  • Skill in developing positive relationships with others.
  • Ability to recognize adverse medication reactions and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in exact detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.
  • Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck.
  • Ability to frequently twist at the waist.
  • Ability to walk or stand up to 90% of the shift.
