The Nurse Aide in Training program allows employees to receive online and on-the-floor training to become a Nurse Aide. Individuals demonstrating good customer service, reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic may be eligible for Education Assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Paid on-the-job training is provided at no cost through various avenues, including classes at a Regency location, a local community college or technical school program, or an internship with a waiver to test out. Nurse Aides and C.N.A.s work under the direction of Charge Nurses, assisting residents with daily living activities as outlined in their care plans. Compassion, friendliness, and a desire to help others are essential for providing the expected level of personal care. Before starting the Nurse Aide class, trainees will work as a Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two weeks. This introductory period helps both the employee and the facility determine if the Certified Nurse Aide role is a good fit and provides an understanding of resident care responsibilities. During this time, non-clinical duties that do not require certification will be performed. Successful completion of this period, along with demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and compassion, allows progression to the Nurse Aide Training Class provided by the facility.
