About The Position

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking degree-seeking undergraduate students for assignments in its National Security Internship Program (NSIP), within the AI and Data Analytics (AIDA) Division of the National Security Directorate. AIDA applies advanced hardware, software, computational, statistical, and mathematical techniques to complex data and analytic challenges. Interns may work with multidisciplinary teams on challenges in national security, energy, and science, developing computer code, participating in cyber competitions, designing visualizations, working with big data, and optimizing solutions across diverse domains. The internship offers work in one of six technical groups: Math, Stats, and Data Science; Applied AI Systems; Foundational Data Science; Software Engineering & Architectures; Human Centered Computing; or Operational Readiness & Enablement. Work may involve mathematical modeling, computational statistics, machine learning, data science, software engineering, cloud computing, data pipelines, visualization, human-computer interaction, testing, or related areas. Participants must be available for the full 10-week program and begin in one of two cohorts: May 25 through July 30, or June 22 through August 27. The position is based in Richland, Washington, or Seattle, Washington. Onsite presence is required Monday through Thursday, with Friday onsite as required by business needs.
