About The Position

V2X has AI Engineering Intern opportunities for current college students pursuing STEM degrees focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, or software development in Indianapolis, Indiana. Interns work with experienced engineers and gain hands-on exposure to designing, developing, training, and testing AI and machine learning models. Assignments may involve integrating AI capabilities into software systems and working with target hardware in a laboratory environment. Interns apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to help address customer needs through customized AI-enabled engineering services and products for customer missions. The position follows a hybrid work schedule, with employees expected to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday at a minimum.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a college STEM degree focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, software development, or a related field.
Coursework in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Basic coding skills in one or more of Python, Java, C/C++, Bash, or similar languages.
Positive attitude and proven leadership skills.
Customer focus and ability to collaborate.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to access systems with information restricted to U.S. citizens under federal contract requirements.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of MS Office or other presentation tools.
Previous engineering or AI/ML project experience or internships.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is strongly desired; applicants are asked to upload an unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

Gain an understanding of typical AI/ML documentation and assist in preparing it.
Learn commonly used AI and software engineering tools and best practices, including Git, ADO, Python libraries, machine learning frameworks, and VSCode.
Provide basic support for AI and software development across software environments and target hardware, including Linux, Android, and Windows.
Expand AI/ML knowledge, including model development, data preparation, and evaluation techniques.
Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Contribute to project and program milestones under general guidance from supervisors, team leads, and mentors.
Learn and follow established AI and software engineering processes and procedures.
