Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology/botany, hydrology, soil science, or related field is required.
  • 10-15 years of experience directly related to wetland delineation and waters permitting, and management of clients and projects.
  • Other relevant experience includes botanical surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, native vegetation identification and restoration, invasive species control, and/or wildlife habitat restoration.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
  • Ability to carry up to 30 lbs, traverse rough terrain, and experience in working in inclement weather with exposure to sun and insects.
  • Applicants must meet requirements for employment in the U.S
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Familiarity with USACE Wetland Delineation Manual and regional supplements
  • Understand Clean Water Act Section 404/401 and local permitting processes.
  • Ability to identify wetland plant species.
  • Experience with GPS technology, ArcGIS, and electronic field data collection.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • MS in associated field is a plus.
  • A GIS certificate is a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NEPA process and completion of Environmental Assessments and similar documents.
  • Experience with DOT procedures for environmental assessments.
  • Experience with stormwater permitting.
  • Experience with field surveys for linear projects such as pipeline, transmission line, or renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Project management, client relations, and staff delegation
  • Participate/lead wetlands and waters delineation field work, report writing, and federal & state JD requests.
  • Prepare permit applications for USACE, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate with USFWS, state agencies, and others regarding T&E species effects determinations.
  • Conduct wetland and stream assessments and categorizations.
  • Participate in wetland, stream and terrestrial restoration and mitigation projects.
  • Native habitat restoration projects including the identification of common native and invasive plant species
  • Support other disciplines as needed.
