About The Position

Erlanger is seeking a Pulmonology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join its outpatient pulmonology clinic in Chattanooga, TN. This is a clinic-based, weekday-only position providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide variety of chronic and acute pulmonology conditions. The APP will work collaboratively with board-certified pulmonologists and an interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in an ambulatory setting. This role is ideal for an APP who enjoys continuity of care, chronic disease management, and patient education, with a strong interest in pulmonology medicine. Responsible for providing direct patient care and supervising the care of patients in the inpatient setting. Provides direct patient care for patients diagnosed with various multi-system conditions including, but not limited to respiratory disease, illness and failure, and general medical care for patient's admitted to other specialty services, utilizing evidence based practice. Responsible for prompt recognition of acute change in patient status necessitating emergent change in plan of care. Will work closely with ancillary departments to ensure appropriate and timely work up and disposition of all patients. Serves as both role model and resource to nursing and outpatient office staff. Provide ongoing staff education as needed. Provide patient education on ongoing basis. Maintain current credentialing/privileges, CEU requirements, licensure and certification as required. Serves as liaison between outpatient clinic physicians, Critical Care Intensivist, Hospitalist service and Primary Care physicians to coordinate patient care services in order to optimize patient care and maximize utilization of resources. The Intensivist Nurse Practitioners will work in the critical care office and will provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation and management of patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The clinic focuses on evidence-based care for conditions such as COPD, asthma, chronic cough, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary nodules, and other complex pulmonary disorders, emphasizing continuity of care and long-term disease management. The department is staffed by experienced, board-certified pulmonologists and supported by advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, nursing staff, and care coordinators who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the team prioritizes patient education, preventive care, and individualized treatment plans to optimize respiratory health and improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Board certified as FNP, AGACNP, ANP, or PA-C
  • Tennessee licensure (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Prior experience in pulmonary, internal medicine, family medicine, or related specialty preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient education skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Licensed as an Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Tennessee
  • National certification as either an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty)
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
  • ACLS certification required
  • DEA number with the ability to prescribe schedules II,III, IV, V
