This position is per diem Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), located in Boston, MA currently has an opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our cutting-edge Inpatient Oncology team, caring for inpatients with Solid Tumors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of patients on a 36-bed unit in collaboration with oncologists and the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of APP required
  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience in an acute care/inpatient environment (either as RN or APP), with medicine, ICU or oncology experience highly desirable.
  • Master's degree in nursing, national certification in advanced practice nursing OR master's degree in physician associate studies, with certification by NCCPA.
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License]
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN] [MA] preferred
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public

Responsibilities

  • Participating in daily interdisciplinary rounds
  • Collaboratively develop and implement care plans
  • Coordinating tests and consultations, communicating with referring clinicians and consults, performing patient education, and preparing patients for discharge.
  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
