About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for an Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in an outpatient setting. The role involves managing a patient load of approximately 16 patients per day (PPD) and collaborating with a team of 5 physicians. The position is full-time, operating Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekend or call responsibilities. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The facility utilizes the EPIC EMR system, and credentialing typically takes 30 days.

Requirements

  • Active Washington licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Oncology experience or equivalent
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Washington
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
