The Nordic patroller is responsible for emergency medical care and transportation of injured skiers and trail maintenance that promotes increased skier safety and hazard identification. Daily duties include patrolling trails, being visible and available for guests, and documentation of incidents that occur on the trails. The Nordic Patroller also provides direction and training to a volunteer staff of 12 National Ski Patrollers with daily task assignments and event coverage. The Nordic Patroller works independently to ensure the safety of guests as they recreate on 56 km of Nordic ski trails and 10 km of snowshoe trails. Together with the Nordic Trail Steward, the Nordic Patroller analyzes the daily conditions and grooming status to make decisions on required maintenance and guest communication. The Nordic Patroller responds to guests in need of assistance, with assistance ranging in severity from a courtesy ride to a n urgent medical incident. The position also requires oversight of up to 12 National Ski Patrollers (weekends and holidays only), which requires task assignment and training.
