About The Position

The role of the Nordic Café Staff Person is to work independently or on a small team while providing excellent customer service and preparing and selling high-quality food and beverages to all guests at the Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center. The position requires experience in food preparation, knowledge of commercial health and sanitation standards, ability to operate a cash register and handle cash, and a commitment to keeping a clean workspace. Staff must have a current food handler’s card and an OLCC card to sell alcoholic beverages. Length of shift varies throughout the season. Part-time and full-time positions are available.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon Food Handler’s Permit and OLCC License.
  • Basic computer skills to operate the POS system.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Working in a small space, frequent bending and lifting.
  • Frequently walking up and down stairs.
  • Ability to shovel snow and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.
  • Cash handling, customer service.
  • Safe use of knives, pans, stoves, and necessary related kitchen equipment.
  • Able to read, write, and follow directions.
  • One year minimum experience in a related position.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 21+

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service and food service is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close work prep area and cash register using set procedures.
  • Prepare and serve a menu that includes freshly prepared burritos, quesadillas, soups, sides, snacks, baked pastries, hot drinks, espresso, alcoholic drinks, and seasonal specials.
  • Provide friendly service and actively pursue sales opportunities.
  • Follow recipe preparation of food products.
  • Maintain quality control and portioning of menu items and ingredients.
  • Promote sanitary conditions and prevent contamination of food and beverage products by following health and sanitation standards set by Mt. Bachelor and your department.
  • Maintain time and temperature log.
  • Keep storage areas clean and organized.
  • Follow Health Department Codes for proper sanitizing of dishware.
  • Adhere to OLCC rules and regulations.
  • Check and chart stock of workstation inventory and needs.
  • Perform end-of-day side work and preparation for next day business.
  • Train new employees on department procedures related to the kitchen.
  • Assist the Nordic Center staff with special events, including the preparation and serving of special event menus and occasionally working additional evening shifts.
  • Help open and operate the Nordic lodge, which may include shoveling, selling retail, greeting guests, providing information, and other related duties –some may be outdoors in inclement weather.
