Public Outreach Consultancy Inc•San Diego, CA
•$0 - $20•Onsite

About The Position

Public Outreach is hiring face-to-face fundraisers/canvassers for its San Diego-area fundraising team. The role represents nonprofit organizations in the community, explains their work and campaigns to the public, and asks people to support their work by becoming recurring monthly donors. Depending on the campaign, topics may include human and civil rights, immigration, reproductive rights, humanitarian emergencies, environmental protection, conservation, animal welfare, LGBTQ+ rights, and social justice. Paid training and ongoing coaching are provided; prior fundraising experience is not required. This is an active, outdoor, goal-oriented position rather than desk work. Fundraisers spend much of their shifts walking, standing, and talking with people face-to-face at rotating outreach locations across the greater San Diego area. The work includes hearing refusals and requires resilience, reliable attendance, openness to coaching, and progress toward fundraising goals. The guaranteed starting wage is $20 per hour, not commission, with performance-based bonuses and incentives. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with approximately 21–35 hours per week. All team members must commit to at least three complete seven-hour shifts per week. Schedule options may include Wednesday–Sunday, Monday–Friday, or Saturday and Sunday; shifts and locations may change with campaign and operational needs. Candidates must be able to travel with the team to changing locations and report to assigned meeting points. The company offers paid training, paid time off, an Employee Assistance Program, and health, dental, and vision benefits for eligible full-time employees and their families after three months. Advancement opportunities may include trainer, team leader, and management roles. Qualified applicants may be invited to a virtual group interview, followed by additional hiring steps and paid field training.
