About The Position

Under supervision, the Cardiovascular (CV) Technician operates equipment to measure and record heart action by monitoring and graphically tracing electrical activity occurring during the heartbeat.

Requirements

Requires high school diploma
In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

Responsibilities

Obtains information for the electrocardiograph records, which include patient identification, history, and medication use.
Escorts patient to the treatment room or wheels equipment to the patient’s bedside.
Explains test procedures and gives instructions to patients.
Attaches electrodes from specified body areas to leads from the electrocardiograph machine.
Takes heart tracings machine. Recognizes emergencies and notifies physician if necessary.
Identifies abnormal heart rhythms on tracings.
Marks tracing paper to indicate electrode positions, pastes/labels tracings on mountings for physician’s interpretation.
Cleans and maintains equipment, maintains supply levels and replaces defective stylus.
Performs clerical tasks as needed.
Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.
Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.
Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.
Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
