About The Position

This is a full-time, day shift position located at Frankfort Hospital. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The role will also include some administrative responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Requires high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires basic computer operations experience and some familiarity with software programs such as Word; Excel and Outlook.
  • Requires the ability to balance and manage carrying-out multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Requires ability to utilize automated menu system to manipulate; process and enhance patient information.
  • Requires ability to recognize and trouble-shoot equipment problems in order to ensure adequate signal and know when to request support from Clinical Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in EKG; rhythm interpretation; anatomy; physiology or other related courses preferred.
  • Experience as an EKG technician; Cardiac Surveillance Technician; Emergency Medical Technician; Cardiovascular Technician; Phlebotomist; Paramedic or equivalent position or a certificate of completion or degree related to rhythm analysis or exercise physiology or related allied health field preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrocardiograph procedures and the EKG manifestations of the entire variety of cardiac arrhythmias in order to identify and effectively communicate significant and/or life threatening cardiac rhythms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cardiac rhythm-based technical support for Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Services, including recording and processing 12-lead electrocardiograms (EKG), continuous monitoring of patient cardiac rhythms and reporting of critical information (cardiac surveillance), review of 24- and 48-hour rhythm recordings and compiling reports for physician review (ambulatory monitoring).
  • May monitor patient's rhythm and status and operating equipment during exercise testing (stress testing).
  • May support the organization IV services by acting as a second-tier source for starting IV's and drawing labs.
