About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting in data acquisition by performing EKGs, and applying holter/event monitors independently. The technician will explain tests, apply electrodes using accepted techniques and placement, and recognize acceptable waveforms, artifact, and rhythm abnormalities. The position also involves assisting with stress echo and nuclear stress testing, and properly billing for completed procedures. A key aspect of the role is the ability to assess patients' status and identify their age-specific needs. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and abiding by requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI).

Requirements

  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
  • 2+ years Of experience as a cardiovascular technician (Required)
  • Successful completion of training as a cardiovascular technician (Required proficiency)
  • Strong communication, team-work, problem-solving and interpersonal skills (Required proficiency)
  • Recognition of cardiac arrhythmia’s (Required proficiency)
  • Stress testing; (Required proficiency)
  • Holter monitors; (Required proficiency)
  • EKGs; (Required proficiency)
  • event monitors; (Required proficiency)
  • vital signs and basic computer skills; (Required proficiency)
  • manual blood pressures. (Required proficiency)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program (CCT or CRAT) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the equipment and supplies
  • Assists in the acquisition of data by performing EKG
  • Assists with application of holter/event monitors independently, including explanation of test, application of electrodes using accepted techniques and placement, recognizes the difference between acceptable waveforms, artifact and rhythm abnormalities
  • Assists with stress echo and nuclear stress testing according to hospital and departmental policy
  • Properly bills for completed procedures
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess patients' status and identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age specific needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
  • Abides by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients
