About The Position

The University of North Texas System is seeking a Non-Student Hourly Counselor to join the UNT-Counseling & Testing-160730 department. This position will provide outreach, individual, group, and crisis counseling as assigned, and actively participate in administrative supervision. The role involves receiving or providing clinical supervision as indicated by licensure status. Counseling & Testing Services aims to support the academic success and general well-being of UNT students through professional counseling, career counseling, consultation, mental-health screenings, educational programs, self-help resources, and referral services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in mental health related field (counseling, social work, psychology)
  • Licensed by the state of Texas as an LPC Associate, LMSW, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of professional counseling practices, policies, and procedures
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed
  • Licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or equivalent
  • If licensed at the Associate level, must obtain full licensure within 24 months of employment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Initial Consultation Appointments according to Service Delivery Agreement
  • Client's concerns and goals for seeking services are clearly stated including risk, if present
  • Plan (next appointment date/time) clearly indicated on Initial Data Form
  • Utilize CCAPS data in decision making
  • ICON data form completed and signed by the end of next business day
  • Success Plan completed
  • Determine appropriate levels of care; make appropriate referrals as indicated
  • Provide individual counseling according to Service Delivery Agreement
  • Appropriately document clinical interventions
  • Document risk assessment, if indicated
  • Update Student Success Plans, as clinically indicated
  • Review CCAPS every session
  • Utilize evidenced based interventions
  • Continue to assess for appropriate level of care
  • Provide crisis/urgent counseling
  • Available for additional crisis times as needed
  • Documentation of crisis data form completed by end of the day
  • Completion of safety plan as needed
  • Utilizes supervision and consultation as appropriate
  • Keeps administrator and front desk informed of hospitalizations
  • Releases signed for external referrals and placed in file
  • Coordinate additional follow up and transport as needed
  • Obtains coverage during planned absences
  • Maintains CEU requirements and department CE file as required by state licensure board
  • Maintains active license or working towards completion within 2 years
  • Active in professional organizations (membership, presentations, publications)
  • Aware of and maintains ethical standards of profession
  • Seeks consultation when faced with ethical dilemmas
  • Promptness for all meetings and scheduled work hours
  • Keeps supervisor informed of absences, lateness, or schedule conflicts
  • Maintains Titanium Schedule to reflect work schedule accurately
  • Participates in department committees as assigned
  • Maintains positive work relationships
  • Responds to emails by the end of the next business day
  • Submits timesheets weekly
  • Reliable attendance
  • Maintains professionalism when responding to emails and/or feedback
  • Provides supervision and training as assigned
  • Available for unofficial training and consultation
  • Participates in training activities as assigned
  • Documents supervision activities
  • Receptive to supervision and participates actively in personal supervision
  • Makes appropriate referrals as indicated
  • Aware of off campus and on campus resources
  • Complete case management referral notes as indicated
  • Participates in outreach as assigned
  • Markets outreach
  • Evaluates outreach programs as indicated
