About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Fabrication is seeking a Non-Destructive Test Quality Multi-Family Manager (Level K) to join their team in North Charleston, South Carolina. This role involves managing a team of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technicians and specialists, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The manager will interface with various departments and external partners to resolve issues impacting airplane build, test, and delivery, while also monitoring group performance and developing technical employees. This position requires leadership experience and a commitment to Boeing's values, acting as a change management leader and promoting open communication and first-time quality. The role also involves providing education and coaching to ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Quality and/or Manufacturing processes and organizations
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with stakeholders (i.e. Customers, suppliers, peers and/or partners)
  • 5+ years of experience in NDI (non-destructive inspection) or NDT (non-destructive test)
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams
  • Leadership experience with technical employees​
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Nice To Haves

  • Current or previous NDT Level II / III certification in one or more NDT methods (ASNT Preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in program or project management
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technicians and specialists, fostering a culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement to drive high performance and operational excellence.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Interface with Operations, Quality, Engineering, regulatory agencies and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting airplane build, test and delivery.
  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports.
  • Monitor group performance against program and functional commitments and developing technical employees within the group.
  • Acts as the initial point of escalation for issues or challenges encountered by the team. Capable of effectively triaging and de-escalating issues with impacted parties.
  • Demonstrates the Boeing values in a deliberate and observable way.
  • Change Management leader to collaborate and influence cross-functional partners.
  • Proactively communicates with leadership team, peers, and customers.
  • Builds organizational culture that values open and honest communication and first-time quality.
  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement by communicating/deploying enterprise best practices and employee engagement to improve cost, quality, delivery, employee job satisfaction and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides education, coaching, and support to ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and standards.
  • May require travel up to 10% of the time.
