Performs in-process and final non-destructive inspections using the various methods of NDT on manufactured shipbuilding products to ensure compliance with code, quality standards, owner specifications, American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS) and or United States Coast Guard (USCG) as well as government requirements. Inspects parts, products and processes using various NDT methods (VT, MT, PT, UT and RT film interpretation) to insure conformance with standards, specifications, regulations or code requirements. Completes detailed inspection records, reports, weld maps and other forms of documentation. Sets up call-out inspections with ABS and U.S. Coast Guard based on codes, rules and regulations. Interacts with ABS, government and owner's representatives as well as craft and shipyard management on the call-out inspections set up and in-process checks and the results of the inspections. Ensure that all of the quality check procedures put in place by the company are followed during every production phase. Create comprehensive documentation for quality issues and note the corrective actions that were taken. Educate production team on quality control issues and work with departmental managers to improve overall company safety and product quality.
