About The Position

Dohrn Transfer is seeking a full-time Non CDL Driver at its Sturgeon, Missouri terminal. The driver operates a non-CDL vehicle between customer locations to pick up and deliver dock-height freight. Drivers are home daily. The starting rate is $23.38 per hour, increasing to $27.38 per hour after the first year. The schedule is Monday through Friday on the day shift. Eligible full-time drivers can earn a quarterly safety incentive of $250, up to $1,000 annually.

The role involves safely operating and inspecting the vehicle, loading and unloading freight independently or with assistance, and securing freight when required. The work requires frequent physical handling of freight and compliance with company procedures and applicable transportation regulations. The position also involves communicating with coworkers and customers and may expose the driver to extreme temperatures, humidity, wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver's license and three years of driving experience.
• Have a Class C endorsement if working in Illinois or a #2 endorsement if working in Indiana.
• Possess only one valid driver's license issued by the driver's state of residence; drivers who recently transferred from another state must provide a copy of their former license or information to verify it.
• Provide information about all driver's licenses held within the previous 36 months.
• Have no DUI/OWI or reckless-driving citation or conviction within the previous five years.
• Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Pass a Department of Transportation physical examination and functional screen.
• Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
• Have a negative controlled-substances and alcohol result from prior employers for the past three years, with no prior evidence of controlled-substance use.
• Have no refusal to submit to an alcohol or controlled-substances test within the past three years, including pre-employment testing.
• Consent to a 10-year work-history check, list and explain gaps of 30 days or more, and provide documentation if requested.
• Be able to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Have excellent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a non-CDL vehicle while transporting freight between terminals and customer locations.
• Load and unload the vehicle, independently or with assistance from dockworkers; use mechanical freight-handling equipment where available and appropriate.
• Lift, pull, push, and carry freight, and secure freight using straps or other methods when required.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with federal, state, and local regulations for safe commercial motor vehicle operation.
• Perform other duties as needed.
