About The Position
Daniels Health & Sharpsmart is hiring a full-time, permanent Non-CDL Driver to collect sharps and medical waste containers from healthcare customer locations in the Des Moines, Iowa area. The role involves driving vehicles as large as a 26-foot box truck, safely handling and transporting containers, and providing reliable customer service. This is a 40-hour-per-week, Monday–Friday first-shift position starting at 6:00 a.m. The offered rate is $25.00 per hour, with a $3,000 sign-on bonus paid in installments: $1,000 after 30 days of employment and $2,000 after 90 days. The company provides regulated-waste collection and treatment services for healthcare customers, with a focus on safety, infection control, preventing needlestick injuries, and reducing customers’ environmental footprint. The position offers stable, non-seasonal work, opportunities for overtime, and benefits, sick leave, and vacation leave from day one for full-time roles.
Requirements
- Valid DOT medical card.
- Delivery experience operating a 26-foot box truck.
- Driving experience in an industry involving manual handling.
- Experience conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle evaluations.
- Clean driving record.
- Flexible, can-do attitude and strong customer focus.
- Experience with DOT compliance, logging hours, and roadside inspections.
- Confidence with Level 1 through Level 3 road checks.
- Proven longevity in past employment.
- On-time delivery practices.
Responsibilities
- Safely collect, deliver, and store medical waste containers at customer locations.
- Provide strong customer service and build positive customer relationships.
- Operate vehicles safely, including box trucks up to 26 feet long.
- Complete deliveries according to schedule and communicate changes or challenges clearly.
- Load and unload containers, and organize and prioritize the truck according to the schedule and job needs.
- Manage routes according to leadership direction and deliver timely, efficient, and effective service.
- Comply with DOT regulations, log hours, and complete roadside inspections.
- Perform heavy lifting.
