About The Position

SharkNinja is seeking a highly motivated Noise and Vibrations Engineering Co-op to support product teams in evaluating and analyzing noise and vibration issues across new consumer products in its Shark and Ninja ranges. The role focuses on developing solutions that improve product sound quality and help deliver high-quality consumer experiences. The co-op will work with multidisciplinary product development and R&D teams, contributing to testing, design reviews, prototype development, and research into noise reduction and control techniques. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position from January to June 2027, with five days per week onsite in Needham, Massachusetts. The role is part of SharkNinja’s Early Edge Experience, which offers early-career participants meaningful project work, professional development, community events, industry exposure, and an opportunity to present their contributions and learnings to company leaders. Relocation and housing assistance are not available.

Requirements

Be a current student in the third year or beyond of a bachelor’s program, or currently enrolled in a master’s program.
Be pursuing Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, or a similar degree.
Work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule, onsite five days per week in Needham, Massachusetts.
Have knowledge of mechanical engineering, basic physical acoustics, psychoacoustics, and noise control principles.
Understand vibrating systems and how changing parameters affects system response.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ownership in identifying and resolving potential problems.
Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues; reduce abstract concepts to practical outcomes.
Show intellectual curiosity, creativity, first-principles thinking, a positive attitude, and the ability to deliver robust, elegant, innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
Be willing to undertake hands-on development and testing work.
Multitask and respond quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining focus on longer-term projects.
Demonstrate passion for acoustics and improving consumers’ noise experience with products.
Identify and solve technical problems autonomously and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to a CAD program, ideally SolidWorks or Creo, and to 3D printing or laser cutting.
Experience developing hands-on prototypes in plastic and metal, including use of basic machine-shop tools.
Familiarity with analog and digital electronics, test equipment such as microphones and accelerometers, and small-appliance components such as sensors, motors, heaters, and PCBAs.
Hands-on prototype building and experimental testing in a workshop or scientific setting.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships and coordinate timelines and deliverables accurately.

Responsibilities

Assist with acoustic and vibration testing of a wide variety of consumer products.
Analyze acoustic and vibration frequency spectra to identify and localize noise sources.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary product development teams to improve sound power and sound quality.
Work with engineering and product development teams to review designs and provide insights into noise performance.
Design, implement, build prototypes, and test solutions to noise and vibration issues.
Work within the R&D team to lead research into novel noise reduction and control techniques.
Identify, solve, implement, and verify technical solutions independently and as part of a team.
Contribute to hands-on prototype development and experimental testing.
