About The Position

The Noise Passby Technician works at General Motors’ Desert Proving Ground as part of a small, flexible, dynamic team with varied responsibilities. The technician plans and builds test setups, executes test procedures, evaluates results, and investigates mechanical or electrical operating difficulties in products and components, recommending corrective action. The role also supports ISO certification documentation, traffic safety, maintenance and repair of site vehicles and equipment, and assistance to site visitors.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as an automotive industry technician working on electrical-related parts and components, such as wire harnesses or panel assemblies.
• Experience in Noise Passby testing.
• Ability to read vehicle electrical schematics.
• Experience supporting vehicle root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of automotive connectors, terminals, locks, and crimping tools used by GM.
• Proficiency with technical tools, including MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), SharePoint, and Outlook.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Plan and build test setups, execute test procedures, and evaluate results.
• Investigate mechanical and electrical operating difficulties in products or components and recommend corrective action.
• Maintain documentation supporting ISO certification requirements.
• Perform traffic safety responsibilities, including driver safety orientation, coordinating emergency standby personnel, maintaining traffic safety radios, and ensuring site visitors follow safety protocols.
• Repair and update service vehicles, trailers, and towing dynos as needed.
• Work with teams to resolve issues quickly and ensure vehicles are updated and operable.
• Perform preventative maintenance on site process equipment.
• Assist site visitors with equipment and other requests.
