About The Position

We are seeking a Nocturnist to provide night call coverage for the inpatient hospitalist service in Hancock, MI. This is a Locum Tenens position covering a scheduling need from July 16, 2026, ongoing. The shifts are nightly from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a beeper call system and a 20-minute response time. The average daily patient volume is 15, with approximately 2 admissions and 3 phone consults per night. The role involves managing adult and pediatric patients (Nursery Level I), including rounding and performing necessary procedures. The facility utilizes the MediTech EMR system and has 4 RNs on staff. Temporary hospital privileges are available, and onsite orientation is required one day prior.

Requirements

Board Certified
Licensed in MI or Universal License (IMLC)
Active MI Controlled Substance License
Active MI DEA required
BLS certification
ACLS certification
Must be within 20 minutes of facility
Onsite orientation required 1 day prior

Responsibilities

Provide night call coverage for the inpatient hospitalist service
Respond to calls and admissions within 20 minutes
Manage an average census of 15 patients with 2 admissions per night
Conduct inpatient rounding as needed during night shifts
Perform necessary procedures including non-invasive ventilation management, ventilation management (acute, chronic), intubation (ENT/INT), chest tube placement, arterial line placement, PA catheter placement, PICC line placement, EKG interpretation, inpatient (with PICU), nursery level I, attend C-sections/high risk deliveries, non-invasive vent management (bipap/cpap), ventilation management (pediatric) (acute, chronic, intubation (ENT/INT) (newborn, pediatrics)), conscious sedation, deep sedation, and central line placement.
