About The Position

We are seeking an Internal Medicine Physician to serve as a Nocturnist in an inpatient hospital setting. This hospital-employed position involves providing overnight coverage for adult patients across diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. The role includes managing a patient census of 9-10 patients per night, handling admissions, rounding, and phone consults. Responsibilities also extend to co-managing critical care admissions with 24/7 subspecialty support, including pulmonary/critical care and radiology. The position is for ongoing coverage due to the expansion of the hospitalist group.

Requirements

• Must be licensed or eligible in Alabama
• Board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine
• Internal Medicine residency trained

Nice To Haves

• Experience with diverse patient populations preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight coverage for ED unassigned patients requiring admission
• Co-manage critical care patients with intensivist support
• Perform admissions, transfers, and inpatient consults
• Work collaboratively with subspecialists and support teams
• Participate in teaching through ACOM and ACGME residency programs
