Requirements

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Hands-on experience with RMM tools (ConnectWise Automate and ScreenConnect strongly preferred)
  • Experience with patch management processes and tools
  • Practical experience managing and troubleshooting firewall platforms (Fortinet, Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto)
  • Proficiency in backup and recovery solutions, particularly Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Foundational experience with Microsoft Azure (VMs, VNETs, Storage, Azure Monitor)
  • Basic scripting capability (PowerShell preferred)
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Auvik is an asset
  • 2–4 years of experience in a NOC Engineer, Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar infrastructure support role

  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve escalated application and infrastructure incidents related to network connectivity, server performance, firewall issues, backup failures, application availability, and Azure resource problems
  • Analyze performance metrics and logs from monitoring tools (e.g., ConnectWise Automate, Auvik, Azure Monitor, backup platforms) to identify root causes and infrastructure bottlenecks
  • Manage and execute patch deployment cycles for Windows Server operating systems and applications using tools such as ConnectWise Automate or Microsoft Intune
  • Implement approved configuration changes across network devices, servers, and firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto) in accordance with change management processes
  • Perform advanced server monitoring and management, including performance tuning, OS-level troubleshooting, and configuration of server roles and features
  • Execute firewall monitoring and management tasks, including log analysis, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and implementing rule changes
  • Manage backup operations, including troubleshooting failures, performing restores (file, VM, or application-level), and validating backup integrity using platforms such as Veeam
  • Maintain and verify backups of network device and firewall configurations
  • Perform operational tasks within Microsoft Azure environments, including VM management, service restarts, and responding to Azure Advisor alerts
  • Collaborate with SOC analysts during integrated incidents, contributing infrastructure insights and supporting coordinated response efforts
  • Document incident resolutions, technical findings, and configuration changes within ticketing systems (ConnectWise Manage) and knowledge bases
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of NOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Tier 1 analysts, supporting skill development across the team
  • Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of operations and effective knowledge transfer
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule
