About The Position

The NOC Engineer owns the health of the managed client fleet by ensuring backups run and can be restored, RMM alerts are remediated, and patches and vulnerabilities are addressed. The role works through a remediation backlog and keeps it under control. It is remote and part-time, with business-hours ET work, an early-morning check of overnight jobs, and an after-hours escalation rotation. The annual salary range is $30,000–$35,000. Responsibilities span backup monitoring and testing, NinjaOne alert remediation, patching and vulnerability remediation, ticket ownership, reporting, and maintaining credentials and runbooks. The role also supports CMMC client systems under their access controls and contributes to regular backup audits and compliance reporting.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in an MSP or IT operations role.
  • Hands-on Veeam B&R experience with jobs, repositories, backup copy, agents, and SureBackup.
  • Day-to-day RMM alert remediation experience, including antivirus/EDR health, disk space, services, and offline devices.
  • Windows patch troubleshooting experience, including failed cumulative updates, servicing stack and component store repair using DISM/SFC, WSUS/Windows Update logs, and third-party patching.
  • Experience remediating vulnerability-scanner findings and recording verification of fixes.
  • Experience with Windows Server, Hyper-V/VMware, storage such as NAS and iSCSI, and basic networking.
  • Experience with object storage targets such as Backblaze, Azure Blob, or Cloud Connect, including immutability and quotas.
  • Clear writing for tickets and client reports.

Responsibilities

  • Triage failed, missed, and warning backup jobs daily across Veeam servers, agents, and cloud copies.

  • Perform scheduled and on-request restore tests, including SureBackup and file or VM restores, and document audit-ready evidence.
  • Enforce the PTG backup standard, including 3-2-1 backups with a cloud copy, minimum retention, encryption, and avoiding synthetic fulls that overrun storage.
  • Conduct the half-yearly backup audit and present its findings.
  • Maintain VSPC by managing onboarding and offboarding, report recipients, and alignment between the managed list and billing.
  • Clear the open NinjaOne condition-alert queue by fixing root causes, including antivirus/EDR health, low disk space, server and virtualization alerts, and device-offline alerts.
  • Tune alert conditions and thresholds so alerts are actionable.
  • Remediate failed Windows and third-party application patches in NinjaOne, including stuck or partially completed runs and pending reboots.
  • Manually install out-of-band updates when policy cannot approve them.
  • Remediate vulnerability-scanner findings by patching, upgrading, reconfiguring, or removing affected software, then verify the findings clear.
  • Report patch compliance and the open vulnerability backlog weekly.
  • Own Halo tickets from alert through closure and keep ticket notes clear.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
