This is an onsite position located in Champaign IL The NOC Deployment Lead is responsible for the planning, installation, and verification of MDU Construction/Deployment projects. This position will require familiarity with networking fundamentals, Pavlov network design standards and practices, Pavlov security standards, inventory control/tracking, and Active Ethernet and PON network design principles to plan, install and verify Pavlov deployment projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have experience with the fundamental concepts of enterprise network design and network implementation with a variety of technologies.
  • Must have at least 6 months’ experience in NOC break-fix

Nice To Haves

  • Desired Certifications: Cisco CNA, CompTIA Network+, MikroTik CNA, Ruckus CNA, or other network-centric formal certification
  • "Customer First" service-oriented approach.
  • Experience in troubleshooting local area network issues and common end-user device issues.
  • Experience using remote monitoring and management systems (i.e., LibreNMS, Nagios, SolarWinds).
  • Ability to work under aggressive deadlines and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines.
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills to work with network and field professionals, project management, engineering, property staff, and/or property vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable and participative in positive, continual changes in process or procedures.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of OSI model layers 1-2.
  • Strong knowledge of routers, switches, Wi-Fi, fiber optics and other technical components used in networks.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues on a data network.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, Adobe, PC hardware and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 services.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and validate engineering.
  • Identify equipment counts (including additions, subtractions and/or substitutions).
  • Identify and propose solutions for building automation/ancillary systems.
  • Manifest and stage (configure) equipment, applications and/or systems.
  • Work with field staff/project manager to create scopes of work (SOW) and schedules for deployment project installation tasks.
  • Work with field staff to physically install equipment.
  • Ensure standards compliance.
  • Keep documentation up to date about project progress.
  • Confirm configurations of all network equipment, applications and/or support products.
  • Confirm proper monitoring of all applicable network equipment.
  • Keep Odoo notes up to date.
  • Prep for any registration services.
  • Confirm the network is free from Layer 1-3 issues.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with internal and external resources while working to complete deployment projects.
  • Troubleshoot Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Fiber Optic physical layer issues remotely to accurately determine if physical repairs are needed and communicate a precise and complete scope of work when a repair is required.
  • Troubleshoot OSI layers 1-3 on Pavlov networks and accurately identify and promptly resolve customer-impacting issues.
  • Maintain familiarity with products and services offered and supported customer networks, including standard firmware, standard designs, and any known issues with common hardware and firmware.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective troubleshooting skills and the ability to use them.
  • Review processes and recommend changes to improve overall effectiveness/efficiencies.
  • Assist network engineers in creating and maintaining departmental knowledge resources for new employee training and continuing education of junior technicians.
  • Take the lead on special projects or work as directed as a member of a project team.
