About The Position

Lake Cable is seeking a Night Supervisor, Production to lead and oversee production, quality, safety, materials management, and distribution, ensuring an efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation. This role involves working with the Plant Manager to meet short and long-range business goals in a leading manufacturer of low voltage, industrial power, utility, custom OEM, and broadcast-quality cables, all produced in the United States. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the various types of wire and cable produced, all raw materials; familiarity with the production equipment; and an understanding of the manufacturing processes – extrusion, cabling, and rewind
  • Knowledge of applicable safety, health, and environment requirements for performing the job
  • Knowledge of and experience with 5 whys, process flow, theory of constraints
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to motivate, develop, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment, multi-task, prioritize, and resolve problems
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use logic in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Efficient time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications – Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the Rubicon system
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Three to five years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with personnel
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift

Nice To Haves

  • Some coursework leading to an Associate’s degree in Production Management or a related discipline, preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • May be requested to perform over-time activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations
  • Provide hands-on leadership, motivation, direction, and supervision to the plant employees
  • Communicate business goals and objectives to staff
  • Manage the production schedule, supply of materials, labor, and the efficient use of machines to meet manufacturing and customer requirements
  • Assess the plant’s KPIs – production goals, quality, safety, distribution of work, scrap, and speed of machines
  • Champion Continuous Improvement looking always to improve operations and processes to become more efficient
  • Ensure that product is manufactured and delivered on time and in compliance with internal, external, and customer specifications
  • Cross-trained to work any position within the facility
  • Coordinates and reviews training of new employees
  • Evaluates employees for additional training or retraining requirements
  • Understanding of ISO requirements pertaining to the production process, assuring proper actions are taken if non-conforming product is made or detected
