The Night Operations Department Supervisor leads overnight back-end operations and is often the only key-carrying manager in the building. The role oversees receiving and stocking inventory, freight flow, product assembly, area recovery, and delivery staging, while ensuring the work does not interfere with customers’ ability to shop. The supervisor drives efficient product movement from receiving to sales departments, maintains stocked and orderly aisles according to planograms, replenishes shelves and top stock, and supports a safe, efficient delivery process. The supervisor assigns and redeploys team members to meet operational needs, coaches and develops associates, provides feedback and recognition, addresses associate-relations concerns, and collaborates with cross-functional partners. The role monitors performance metrics and operational processes, responds to unexpected events, identifies barriers and improvements, and maintains safety, security, and shrink-prevention practices. When serving as Manager-on-Duty, the supervisor provides store-wide leadership, supports customer service and staffing, coaches associates, keeps aisles safe and clear, manages responses to call buttons, and hands off observations to the next MOD.
