About The Position

The Night General Clerk stocks, faces, and rotates merchandise during overnight hours in the Grocery department to maintain an attractive store image and price integrity. The role assists with receiving and organizing inventory, stocking and replenishing products, maintaining product quality and accurate pricing, and keeping storage and department areas clean and orderly. The position also involves handling products in refrigerated storage, monitoring expiration dates, managing damaged goods, reporting equipment problems, and working with customers and team members in a fast-paced grocery store environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Complete the company’s OSHA-accredited forklift training.
Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
Awareness of grocery products and categories and how to handle and store items correctly.
Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and other relevant health and safety regulations.
Precision in checking and recording inventory and maintaining accurate stock levels and documentation.
Proficiency with inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain organized storage areas and manage inventory efficiently.
Ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies or storage problems.
Ability to adapt to changing situations, manage multiple demands, and work effectively with diverse personalities.
Ability to make informed decisions quickly, including in high-pressure environments.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts; frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; perform repetitive reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and product handling; climb ladders; perform fine motor tasks; operate equipment to move or store products and displays; communicate clearly; and work quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Follow the store’s dress code, including wearing a name tag and approved company-issued or personal attire in good repair.

Over one year of Grocery Clerk experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in receiving, sorting, and organizing stock inventory for store shelves.
Stock assigned shelves and products cleanly, efficiently, and according to company standards.
Assist with unloading trucks as assigned by department management.
Monitor shelf prices and product integrity; restock products to ensure accuracy, proper rotation, and quality protection.
Follow company case-cutting procedures to minimize product damage and loss.
Take stock to applicable storage and workload areas.
Replenish products in various departments as directed.
Move products into and out of storage areas, including refrigerated storage boxes, for proper display and storage.
Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and help control damaged goods.
Monitor expiration dates to ensure only fresh products are available for purchase.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly department image.
Report malfunctioning refrigeration or equipment to store management immediately.
Perform other duties as assigned.
