About The Position
The York News-Times is seeking a journalist to cover a wide variety of topics, including local news and features. Coverage may include crime, business openings, fires, accidents, natural disasters, and local government. The reporter may also be asked to report for other central Nebraska Lee properties as needed. This is an opportunity to practice local journalism and make an impact in the community. The reporter writes stories for digital and print, takes videos and photos, and optimizes content for the web and social media to engage and grow the digital subscriber base. The role calls for clear writing, source development, initiative in finding stories, and the ability to produce timely reports in an instant digital news environment. Requirements
- Ability to write clearly.
- Proficiency in reporting and writing according to AP style.
- Ability to develop sources and take initiative to find stories.
- Proficiency in photography, videography, and digital platforms.
- Ability to produce timely reports in a fast-paced digital news environment.

- Internships or relevant experience will be considered.
