About The Position

KHGI is hiring a creative News Producer to handle the day-to-day production of newscasts. The role works closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors on newscasts and their content. The News Producer determines newscast content and flow, collaborates with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories, and develops content for the website. The ideal candidate has strong news judgment, accurate writing, time-management and multitasking skills, leadership and communication abilities, and flexibility in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Previous news-producing experience at a commercial TV station is required, though an entry-level candidate may be considered.

Requirements

• Solid news judgment.
• Compelling and accurate writing skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time to produce exciting and informative newscasts.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with non-linear editing software and newsroom systems, such as Avid and iNews.
• At least some previous news-producing experience at a commercial TV station; an entry-level candidate may be considered.
