News Producer
About The Position
KING 5, TEGNA’s NBC affiliate in Seattle, is seeking a News Producer to create engaging newscasts focused on breaking news, accountability, and storytelling. The producer will develop content for linear and streaming platforms, help ensure viewers are informed about current events in the community, and use creative production techniques to enhance stories. The role requires balancing multiple deadlines and maintaining high journalistic standards across broadcast and digital platforms. The producer will report to an Executive Producer and collaborate with producers, anchors, reporters, and photojournalists. The position includes pitching original stories, writing conversationally, cutting video, and handling live and breaking news in the control room. The listed pay range is $33.70–$38.00 USD.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of producing experience in a medium or large market.
- Strong news judgment and ability to use analytics to determine content and teases.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends.
Nice To Haves
- Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, editing, and content management systems.
- Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- BA/BS college degree or related experience.

- Prioritize breaking news and respond flexibly to keep viewers informed about events in the community.
- Use creative production techniques, including graphics, editing, and new forms of media, to enhance stories.

- Pitch and enterprise original story ideas.
- Calmly handle live and breaking news in the control room.
- Write conversationally and cut video for broadcast.
