About The Position
Join KOCO, the Oklahoma City ABC affiliate of Hearst Television, as a paid, hands-on intern. The internship offers the opportunity to learn how a professional newsroom operates while contributing to its daily work. Interns assist reporters and producers, may accompany crews in the field, and may have the opportunity to field produce independently. They also work with the news team to research and gather information for stories and assist with production.
Requirements
- Ability to react and adapt to breaking news.
- Versatility in handling a wide range of topics and subjects.
- Stay up to date on current events.
- Work well in a team dynamic.
- Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
- Interest in journalism.
- Previous experience through journalism college classes or an internship in a local newsroom.
Responsibilities
- Assist with writing voiceovers, spots, and packages.
- Assist reporters, producers, and photographers on shoots.
- Log interviews.
- Write stories for newscasts.
- Assist with coordinating content within the newsroom.
- Help with daily newsroom operations as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
