About The Position
The News Anchor serves as the primary presenter of news stories and other content across all platforms, delivering information clearly, engagingly, and meaningfully to news consumers. The role also includes producing newscasts; supporting news programming through writing, editing, research, and coordination; and contributing content to the website and other eMedia platforms. The anchor may report from the field, conduct interviews, respond to breaking news, participate in promotional activities, and interact with viewers and users on social media. The position requires maintaining journalistic integrity and production quality, collaborating with and providing direction to team members, and completing special projects and other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad-lib when required.
- Two to five years of experience in news reporting or anchoring; the posting notes this may vary depending on market size.
- Superior on-air presence.
- Excellent news judgment and expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
- Experience guiding, directing, and motivating others.
- Ability to identify others’ developmental needs and coach, mentor, or otherwise help them improve their knowledge or skills.
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to listen effectively, understand problems, and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work any shift.

- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Present news stories and other content for all platforms.

- Assist with writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content.
- Act as a field reporter as assigned.
- Conduct interviews with news personnel and others.
- Respond to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
- Participate in promotional activities, including public appearances.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Edit video clips as assigned.
- Write content for the website and other eMedia platforms.
- Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.
