Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a New Graduate RN for a residency program in the Surgical Step Down (IMCU) unit, with a start date in September 2026. This program is designed to assist newly licensed nurses in their transition to practice, aiming to reduce turnover and enhance critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, ultimately improving patient outcomes and nurse satisfaction. The program incorporates the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies. New graduate nurses are hired in cohorts and, after a 4-month training period, will assume a position on a Step Down unit. A two-year commitment is requested after the residency. The role involves nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and families across the healthcare continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes, adhering to established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice. The position reports to the Unit Nurse Director.
