About The Position

Start your nursing career at BMC in the Emergency Department, the busiest Level 1 Trauma Center in New England, where you’ll care for diverse patients, make a meaningful impact every day, and grow as part of a team committed to exceptional, compassionate care. Boston Medical Center has implemented a comprehensive new graduate nurse transition to practice program incorporating the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies. New graduate nurses are hired in cohorts. The cohort members attend nursing orientation together, followed by a series of educational days over 6 months. These activities, besides being educational, also bring the group together promoting social support and relevant discussion of common situations encountered in the first year of practice. The new graduate nurse residency includes a variety of experiential learning modalities that provide opportunities for assimilation and application of clinical theory and concepts to bedside practice. The role is designated for nurses who have graduated from nursing school within the twelve (12) months before their date of hire and encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and following established BMC policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice.
