This position is for a graduate of an accredited nursing program working in a state that does not allow graduates to perform nursing duties until licensed. The specific job title depends on the state of employment. As part of the hemodialysis health care team, the employee provides safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse while working toward obtaining a nursing license. A nursing license must be obtained within 90 days of the hire date. The role includes providing patient care during dialysis treatments; preparing and maintaining dialysis equipment and the treatment environment; entering and reviewing clinical and laboratory records; and handling laboratory specimens. The employee must maintain required credentials and certifications, communicate changes in patient condition to the nurse supervisor, maintain regular and punctual attendance, and perform other related duties as assigned. The work involves use of a desk and personal computer, interaction with patients and health care staff, and potentially travel between assigned facilities and to meetings. The health care facility environment has controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels, with possible exposure to infectious and contagious diseases or materials. Direct patient care regularly involves lifting and moving patients and assisting with ambulation. The position also requires frequent prolonged standing and bending, and may require pushing or pulling equipment and lifting solutions and other items.
