Dec 2026 New Graduate Engineer, Electrical / Avionics

Mach Industries•Huntington Beach, CA
•$120,000 - $125,000•Onsite

About The Position

Mach Industries is seeking a New Graduate Electrical & Avionics Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of electrical systems for next-generation autonomous defense platforms. In this role, you will work across circuit-board design, avionics, power distribution, communications, vehicle harnessing, and hardware testing to take systems from early prototypes through flight-ready production hardware. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, software, systems, manufacturing, and test engineers to rapidly build, troubleshoot, and validate reliable electrical systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who wants broad technical ownership, learns quickly, and is excited to build critical hardware in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Graduating by December 2026
  • Electrical or avionics experience gained through internships, research, academic projects, student competition teams, or professional roles.
  • Foundational understanding of analog and digital electronics, circuit design, power systems, and electrical interfaces.
  • Experience with schematic capture or PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Cadence, KiCad, or an equivalent tool.
  • Hands-on experience building, testing, debugging, or integrating electrical hardware.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines in a fast-paced, hardware-focused environment.
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful, permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing, assembling, or testing printed circuit boards.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, sensors, actuators, communications buses, or power-distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with common communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, or MIPI.
  • Experience with vehicle harnessing, connector selection, wiring diagrams, or electrical system integration.
  • Participation in technical organizations or student teams such as Formula SAE, Design/Build/Fly, rocketry, robotics, UAV, CubeSat, or autonomous vehicle teams.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, or other electrical test equipment.
  • Familiarity with high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, and circuit protection.
  • Exposure to embedded programming in C, C++, Python, or a related language.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or flight-system testing.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability, reliability, and testability.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements or other aerospace and defense industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical and avionics systems for autonomous aircraft, missiles, propulsion systems, and related defense platforms.
  • Support schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, stack-up design, and board bring-up.
  • Design circuits incorporating microcontrollers, high- and low-speed communication buses, analog and digital interfaces, sensors, power distribution, EMI protection, and ESD protection.
  • Develop flight avionics, guidance and control electronics, communications systems, power electronics, and supporting test hardware.
  • Design and integrate vehicle wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, actuators, and electrical interfaces.
  • Build prototypes and conduct bench-level, subsystem, and vehicle-level testing using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical hardware, identify root causes, and implement design or process improvements.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, environmental testing, system integration, and flight or field-test activities.
  • Develop and maintain schematics, drawings, bills of materials, test procedures, design documentation, and product specifications.
  • Partner with mechanical, software, systems, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure electrical components integrate successfully into the overall vehicle.
  • Work alongside manufacturing and quality teams to transition designs from prototype builds into reliable, repeatable production.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable performance, reliability, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
