About The Position
As a Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer, you will design and test custom circuit boards and other avionics devices that enable our space vehicles to meet mission requirements. You will work directly with software engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC engineers, and others. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of spacecraft electronics development, from designing new circuit boards to testing, debugging and integrating them onto space vehicles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years professional experience designing digital electronics for rockets, spacecraft, or other vehicles
- Proficiency with electronics component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout
- Knowledge of digital circuit design concepts including signal integrity, timing, etc.
- Experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level or system level
- Desire to improve team processes and train other team members
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience with Altium Designer
- 2+ years of experience doing new development work for any of the following: processors, FPGAs, DSPs, cameras, ethernet switches, or any other specialized area relevant to spacecraft or rockets
- 2+ years of experience designing high speed digital interfaces such as DDR4/5, PCIe, RGMII/SGMII, Ethernet
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Responsibilities
- Develop circuit boards for spacecraft, with an emphasis on analog, digital or control electronics
- Contribute to new spacecraft avionics architecture trade
- Perform rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems
- Act as the Responsible Engineering authority for your hardware, owning your design from board bring-up and debugging in the lab through qualification and flight operations
- Define hardware interfaces and verify requirements
- Establish and maintain high technical standards and mentor less experienced engineers
- Partner with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing and test teams
