About The Position

The Perioperative Nursing Program is a 15-week full-time paid program specifically designed to teach Registered Nurses (RNs) the scrub and circulating roles within an Operating Room (OR) setting. The program aims to prepare participants for a long-standing career in the OR. It integrates classroom lectures, skill development through mock surgeries, and precepted clinical experiences to facilitate success. Upon successful completion of the program, orientation and training continue as participants gain knowledge and skills in various clinical OR specialties. This position is located at Geauga Medical Center in the Adult out-patient OR, operating on a 5-8s Day schedule from Monday to Friday. The role includes on-call requirements for late schedules and weekends, with a mandatory 30-minute response time. The service lines covered include Ortho, General, Vascular, Bariatric, Podiatry, Cardiac, Thoracic, ENT, Cataracts, GYN, Urology, and Robotics. The program is currently accepting applications from New Grad RN candidates who graduated in December 2025 or earlier and possess prior LPN and/or RN experience. University Hospitals (UH) offers a nurse-focused, supportive, and education-focused culture, including a Nurse Residency Program to assist in the transition to practice.

Requirements

  • Graduated in December 2025 or earlier
  • Prior LPN and/or RN experience
  • Diploma RN, Associate or Bachelor's Degree of Nursing from an accredited program
  • An Ohio RN license is not required to be considered for this position. If selected to move forward, employment offers may be made contingent on candidate successfully obtaining RN license within time frame discussed at the time of offer acceptance.
  • Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.

  • Preference is strongly given to candidates with previous experience in an OR practicum, internship, LPN and/or RN experience
