The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute cares for patients with a variety of heart, vascular and thoracic diseases and provides the highest level of patient care, innovative treatments and a welcoming environment to all. We are currently welcoming New Graduate RN Residents to join J61, a highly specialized 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit. Alongside our sister unit, J63, J61 provides expert care for post-open heart, surgical, and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients. These fast-paced units offer exceptional opportunities for professional growth, clinical advancement, and hands-on experience with innovative cardiovascular procedures. Nurses care for a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery, valve repair and replacement, VAD implantation, aneurysm repair, and other complex cardiac interventions, as well as patients with heart failure, arrhythmias, angina, and pacemaker or defibrillator procedures. As a Registered Nurse Resident on J61, you will work alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care for individuals with complex cardiovascular needs. Nurses play a vital role in patient education, discharge planning, and recovery while developing advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills that support optimal patient outcomes. Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
