About The Position

The Director, Neurosciences Service Line is responsible for the administration and operations of UC Irvine Healthcare Neuroscience and Psychiatry & Behavioral Health ambulatory and clinical operations. This position works in partnership with the service line leadership and departmental chairs in support of the Medical Center operations, goals and objectives. Maintains responsibility for strategic planning, process improvement, human resource management and policy and procedure improvement. Serves as principal liaison to Medical Center and School of Medicine departments. Maintains a strong working knowledge of directives and guidelines related to billing compliance, payer regulations and specialty specific initiatives.

Requirements

  • Understanding of hospital and registration systems
  • Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available and ability to synthesize to form recommendations
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience to cover operations, with related accomplishments in performance, development, productivity, and cost management
  • Highly developed analytic skills and ability to synthesize large amounts of data for purposes of reporting key data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with physicians, managers and high-level administrative staff as well as support staff who are critical to departmental functions
  • Demonstrated advanced skill, knowledge and ability to produce reports from computer programs such as Excel, Access, Word and general report writers
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree
  • Ability to write succinct and accurate executive summaries for senior level audiences
  • Ability to think and plan strategically
  • Ability to summarize information in formats suitable for presentation to varied audiences
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to lead teams involved in process improvement
  • Ability to lead change toward strategic business objectives
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to act independently to solve problems and develop recommendations
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

  • Knowledge of lean sigma process improvement methodologies
