Neuropsychologist - Oakland
About The Position
This role is for a neuropsychologist looking to make a significant impact by serving an underserved population within skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). The position involves conducting bedside evaluations, assessing cognitive and mental health needs, diagnosing conditions, and developing treatment plans for residents. The neuropsychologist will collaborate with facility staff, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nursing staff, social services, and facility leadership to improve resident quality of life, prevent hospitalizations, and reduce behavioral crises. The work is described as meaningful, varied, and grounded in clinical best practices, offering autonomy with support and opportunities for professional growth within a stable, mission-driven organization.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology with specialty training in neuropsychology (two-year fellowship program in neuropsychology strongly recommended)
- Licensed in California
- Medicare-eligible (assistance provided with credentialing and paneling)
- Value evidence-based practice and clinical flexibility
- Comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity
- Desire autonomy without isolation, and support without micromanagement
- Curiosity, compassion, and the ability to see the person behind the chart
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities is not required
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals in skilled nursing facilities
- Manage an active caseload with support from a clinical manager and administrative team
- Collaborate closely with facility staff, offering consultation, guidance, and in-services
- Complete documentation aligned with medical necessity and Medicare standards
- Provide care by meeting residents where they reside, in skilled nursing facilities
